Presentation to local Academy of General Dentists

Dr. Crain considered it an honor to be invited to present information to the local Academy of General Dentists meeting on 11/18/09. He called his presentation "Orthodontics Today" and shared with the dentists new areas to improve orthodontic care. These areas included skeletal anchorage, lingual braces (on the inside of the teeth) and prevention of damage to the teeth around the braces from poor brushing, too much sugar, or too many acid drinks. He also covered new approaches which result in shorter treatment time for some adult patients. The timing of treatment was discussed, and the advantages of beginning at an early age for severe cases were highlighted. A few orthodontic controversies were also discussed, including some of the recent clinical studies on Invisalign. In addition, new enhancements to Invisalign were mentioned. The presentation sparked a lot of lively discussion! Based on their attention and participation during the presentation, as well as their comments at the end, the dentists seemed genuinely pleased with this update.
